Strategy
Strategic communications planning provides a blueprint to development short and long-term public awareness, information and education campaigns. Strategists work in consultation with clients to determine goals and objectives and provide advice on the most appropriate and cost-effective means of delivering messaging to specific target audiences.
Plans are based on research and public opinion analysis of current issues and societal, economic or cultural trends, conducted by GIS and include evaluation components. In consultation with other GIS sections, tactics and communications products, such as graphic and editorial services, media relations, website support and electronic media are recommended to support campaign objectives.
GIS also investigate synergies and links to other current or proposed campaigns which might affect a new project, and tailors recommendations accordingly.
Once approved by the client, the resulting document and supporting budget may serve as a manual for the client to plan, track and evaluate campaign progress and effectiveness.
